This past week, I completed my senior thesis research paper, put together the last of my high school mini-autobiography, and wrote out my senior speech. The relief I feel is literally monumental. I graduate high school in… 23 days! And that includes weekends. Terror and excitement course through me just thinking about it. But we all know what stress calls for–tea!
I decided this week, instead of browsing the tea shelves at the store, I would make my own concoction at home. About a month ago, I went out with a friend to Starbucks, where I ordered a Chai Tea Latte. This drink was creamy, spiced up, and flavorful beyond measure. Upon Googling at-home recipes, there were countless other tea-junkies replicating the very same drink. With some inspiration from a couple of recipes, here is how I made my very own latte.
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 cup coconut milk
1 cup water
Note: I made this without actual tea, but any green or black tea would go quite well with these spices.
1. Boil or warm up water. While doing this, measure out cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
2. Remove water once hot/boiling. Warm up coconut milk.
3. Using either a disposable tea bag or fine mesh (something that can capture the spices), steep spices in the hot water, adding warm coconut milk as you go. This is also when you would steep your black or green tea, should you choose to include it.
And there you have it, Chai Tea Latte!
